Programs

There are currently 5 fully Royal College Accredited Programs in Canada. These are expert centres that provide excellent education with the goals of creating both Academic Surgical Oncologists as well as Community Surgical Oncologists in large regional centres. The practice of Surgical Oncology is a very fulfilling career and we hope you consider our programs for your training.

Fellows

Once you are a fellow in one of our programs, please join the CSSO. There is an Annual CSSO Oral Exam for all fellows the day before the CSSO Annual Meeting in April and Networking dinner. This is a great opportunity to meet Surgical Oncologists from across the country.

Royal College Exam

In the fall, after the completion of your two year fellowship program, you will be writing a Royal College General Surgical Oncology Exam. This is one day and a short answer exam. There is no oral examination component nor are there MCQs. Once you pass this you will have double certification with the Royal College: Both General Surgery and General Surgical Oncology.

Future Perspectives

Find a Mentor

The CSSO will be developing a mentorship program for young new staff. Stay tuned.
